For journalists and researchers

What Launch Register Company Statistics publishes, how to use and cite it, and who to contact for a specific figure or comment.

[email protected] — methodology questions, bespoke aggregated figures and interview requests. On a deadline, say so in the subject line.

What is published

Aggregate statistics on newly incorporated and early-stage UK companies — counts, shares, trends and address-concentration measures — by local authority and by industry, each with its own methodology and limitations. Everything is derived deterministically from official Companies House public data.

What is not

No company names, company numbers, registered addresses or officers, and no per-company lists — the public pages explain the market; they are not a directory, and no combination of pages will reconstruct one. Small cells are suppressed. Figures are honest about what a registered office and a SIC code do and do not mean; please carry those caveats through into any reporting.

Using and citing the figures

The statistics may be quoted with attribution to Launch Register Company Statistics, citing the page and the release month. They contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. See releases and revisions for how each release is recorded and the methodology for how a figure is produced.

What we can and cannot provide

We can help with

  • bespoke aggregated figures for a story, under the same suppression rules as the site;
  • method explanations on the record, including the limits of the data;
  • press-ready charts and the underlying published aggregates;
  • notice when a report or data note lands, on request.

We do not provide

  • company names, numbers or lists behind any count;
  • registered-office addresses, director or PSC details;
  • daily or current-week counts, or partial-month figures;
  • CSV, spreadsheet or API access to the statistics.
