Releases and revisions

When the library is refreshed, what each release records, and how to cite a figure so it can be reproduced later.

How releases work
Evergreen pages
Location and industry pages update in place each month. Their figures move, so cite them with the data-through date shown on the page.
Frozen reports
Annual reports and material data notes are published once, at their own URL, and are not edited afterwards — for a citation that must not change under you. They are prepared once a full year of published data exists.

Refresh cadence

The library refreshes monthly, on or after the 10th, once the latest complete calendar month is available from Companies House. A refresh is all or nothing: if the automated checks fail, the previous good release stays published and no partial update is shown. Pages are updated in place, so a page's address does not change between releases.

What each release records

Every release records the provenance of its figures, so a number can be reproduced under the exact rules and data that produced it:

Citing a figure

Cite the specific page and the release month, and note that figures are Launch Register Company Statistics derived from Companies House public data under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Because pages are updated in place, quoting the release month makes a figure reproducible even after the next refresh. The methodology sets out exactly how each figure is produced.
